It’s time to get it right. We’ve been spinning our wheels and spiraling further and further from the truth. We are off track and the solution is in tactics which are different than those that are familiar. You know what they say about insanity and doing the same things but expecting a different result?
We don’t like the moral, economic or other directions that the United States has adopted. For years, we have stated our position with increasing volume but the chasm seems to be widening. At what point do we shut up long enough to look around and consider that we’re wasting our breath?
The “we” I’m referring to are people who call themselves “Christians.” The term is broadly defined, which is the beginning of the problem. Some people believe they are born into it, others think it is earned by attendance at weekly services of some sort. The original intent, of course, is more along the lines of “Christ followers.” People that follow Jesus. Seriously follow Him, sold out with Him and not just self-labeled by our Republican affiliations.
“If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land.” 2 Chronicles 7:14.
If we wants things to improve, it starts with our humility. We’re the ones called by His name, after all. According to this passage, it’s His people who need to humble themselves, pray and seek him as we turn from our wicked ways. Notice He says that its us that need to turn from our wicked ways. Those who are called by His name. Not the other ones that we want to listen to us as we tell them about what we think about their wicked ways.
The deal is huge mess and the forecast is not good. Want it to get better? Then it’s time to stop posting disrespectful venom about the elected leaders (whom God chose) and humbly repent, praying and seeking God. Then, and only then, will His voice be heard beyond the meetings of our self-righteous clubs.
He can fix this mess, and He tells us how that works. It works through humility and honor, not an increase of volume and accusation. It’s so counter-intuitive that it has to be True.
