All In

Stringing your bet will get you killed. The only way to play it, to really have a shot, is “all in.” Anything less leaves you exposed in the grey which is only an illusion in the first place. The reality is actually black and white.

“For he has rescued us from the dominion of darkness and brought us into the kingdom of the Son he loves.” Colossians 1:13.

Dominion of darkness or Kingdom of Jesus. Two choices: black or white. No third option; no gray.

Where we get ourselves in trouble is that we start layering “levels” of the Kingdom and all too often evaluate ourselves to be in some level lacking what we think we need to be who we actually are. That is, we believe that we need to study, be good for a while and take things slow. We’re not quite ready for “that;” whatever “that” might be at any given time.

There are no layers. There are not levels of the Kingdom of God. There’s just the Kingdom and you’re in or you’re not.

When you’re in, it is by the Blood of Jesus. He paid the price and His sacrifice is sufficient. He gets us in and He’s good at it. He knows what He’s doing. Trust Him at His words, which were, “It is finished.”

Get in the game. There is no checklist to follow; just talk to God. Tell Him the stuff that you feel and think. Ask Him what that means to Him. Let Him talk to you, being quiet to listen with the ears of your heart – your Kingdom ears. Then when He responds, and He will, do it. Whatever “it” is.

It may seem small; that doesn’t matter. If it seems to big; that doesn’t matter, either. He is faithful and will make a way.

Just decide that your answer is “yes” and starting walking it out. Scary? Maybe, but not as scary or as tiring as the mental gymnastics that go with trying to live in the gray.

  1. I just reread this. What you said about the “gray” is so true. It is an absolute beating. I’ve spent some time there. I’ve never been more tired.
