So What?

So what? What does it mean to me? What benefit do I obtain? How do I apply this stuff to my life so that things are better for me and my family?

Last week I spent two days discussing abundant grace and the gift of transformation. Both were based on the sacrifice of Jesus Christ, based in the Scripture, Romans 5:17, “For if, because of one man’s trespass, death reigned through that one man, much more will those who receive the abundance of grace and the free gift of righteousness reign in life through the one man Jesus Christ.”

The answer as to why it matter is in that verse. If we want to enjoy the benefit of our purpose, it will come through the sacrifice of Jesus through the realization of abundant grace and free gift of righteousness. It’s not theoretical or philosophical; its a very real invitation to “reign in life.”

Adam messed the deal up for everyone and the result is that death was unleashed on humanity. Death takes on many forms. It could be dead dreams or dead relationships. It could be dead joy or it could be dead hope. Whatever form, and however long it takes to realizes that deadness in its prevalent position in the lives of men, there is a Cure. Jesus cured death with Life.

So, when we receive Him and His sacrifice, we are afforded abundant grace and the free gift of righteousness. We receive these things to reign in life. We are meant to be reigning royalty; sons of Kings operating as ambassadors of an Eternal Kingdom.

For too long, the church has been viewed as boring and fatalistic. The truth is, for too long it’s been a valid observation. The people of God have not stepped into the fullness of the benefit and there has been absolutely no reigning in life.

It’s time. It’s time to receive our identity as righteous sons and stop performance management and judgement of behaviors through the abundance of grace. We need to step into the purpose of victory and reign as we were intended. This isn’t positional through the government or other temporal institutions; it’s not just another thing to strive towards. It’s a reality that manifests from the inside out and brings the benefit of Peace.

So what? So everything. So peace, purpose, relationships, hope, joy. So victory.
